Kona Oahu Presentation 06-22
Off the coast of Hawaii, Kona, a dolphin, spends her days swimming free in the ocean until trapped in a ghost net abandoned by a careless fisherman. Kona is rescued but hurt, so she is taken to the Blue Haven Aquarium to recuperate.
Melanie is a sixteen-year-old childhood cancer survivor. All she’s ever wanted is to live a normal life. She begins to live her dream when she takes a part-time job at the Blue Haven Aquarium. She meets her co-worker, Chase, a boy her age, and finds they have more in common than the aquarium. Quite by accident, Melanie meets Kona, the lonely dolphin and the two bond.
Melanie and Chase work together to help Kona acclimate to her new surroundings. Just as everything is going Melanie’s way, tragedy strikes. The cancer returns, and Melanie’s world comes crashing down, and with Melanie’s absence at the aquarium, Kona slips back into depression.
Melanie is no quitter. Now the fight begins. She not only has herself to save but the life of her friend. It’s an uphill battle for survival.
